Texans for Healthcare Access Coalition Applauds Rep. Darby, Sen. Middleton for Bold Legislation to Improve Patient Access and Choice

Austin, TX (March 7, 2025) – Texans for Healthcare Access today issued the following statement applauding Representative Drew Darby Senator Mayes Middleton after the introduction of HB 3794/SB 1859, bold legislation designed to improve healthcare access and increase patient choice for Texans.

“We applaud Senator Mayes Middleton and Representative Drew Darby for putting patients first through the introduction of this crucial legislation, HB 3794/SB 1859. By allowing Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) to practice to the full extent of their training and licensure, these bills will improve healthcare access, particularly in rural and underserved communities, while also introducing important cost-saving measures for state-funded healthcare programs.

The millions of Texans living in healthcare provider shortage areas and maternity care deserts deserve access to high-quality healthcare, close to home. HB 3794/SB1859 offers a bipartisan, common-sense approach that will foster a more efficient healthcare system, increase competition and choice for consumers, and expand access for Texans.”
